Context
Daou in arabic means light. This typeface has been realized as my final graduation project at UQÀM School of design in May 2019. For over 60 years, it has always been hard for a designer in the Middle East to match authentic expressive bilingual information. Inspired by the typographic matchmaking process launched by the Khatt Foundation in the Netherlands, I wanted to take the challenge to create a new typeface that would offer an arabic version.
Daoulight
Daoulight is an oldstyle serif font inspired from the abjad scriptures and its shapes & folded curves makes it elegant for text use.
Specimen
A multi-purpose printed specimen is available as a booklet.
Space
Beside the examples shown in the printed specimen, the typeface is also fonctional for cultural spaces.
